Românii au talent returns: Andi Moisescu urges fans to sign up

•By Ivan Šarić

CASTING CALL

As the search for Romania's next big star heats up, veteran television host Andi Moisescu has issued a personal invitation to his followers. With casting for the 17th season of Românii au talent nearing its end, the beloved judge is urging talented individuals to take a leap of faith.

Andi Moisescu, a household name in Romanian television and a long-standing judge on Românii au talent, recently took to Instagram to encourage aspiring performers to step into the spotlight. Having been with the hit programme since its premiere in February 2011, the television producer knows exactly what it takes to captivate an audience. In his recent social media upload, Moisescu spoke directly to the camera in a softly lit room, offering a heartfelt message to those who might be holding back.

He told his followers that if they are watching his video, they likely have a hidden talent they have been too afraid to share. Acknowledging the very real fear of public judgment, Moisescu promised that the experience could completely change their lives. The 53-year-old presenter, who also spends his time performing as a DJ at events like the TSP Festival, concluded his video by directing fans to the official Pro TV registration website. He warned them that time is running out to join the upcoming season, signing off with a reminder that he is waiting for them "personally and inevitably" at the auditions.

A new era for the talent show

The call to action aligns perfectly with the recent movements of the show's pre-selection caravan. Throughout September 2026, the production team has been touring major Romanian cities, including Timișoara, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, and Bucharest, on the hunt for fresh faces. However, the contestants are not the only new element this year.

Fans of the franchise are buzzing about a significant change to the judging panel. For the 17th season, legendary Romanian gymnast Nadia Comăneci will be joining the jury, taking the seat previously held by actress Carmen Tănase. Comăneci will sit alongside Moisescu, acclaimed singer Andra, and popular comedian Mihai Bobonete. Together, they will be tasked with finding the next winner of the staggering €120,000 grand prize. The show will continue to feature its famous "Golden Buzz" rule, allowing judges to send standout acts straight to the live semi-finals.

Moisescu's encouraging words resonated with his audience, though many expressed the exact hesitation he described in his video. One user commented that they wished they had the courage to apply, highlighting the daunting nature of national television. Another follower joked that while they always tune in to watch him, their only real talent is cooking well.

With the deadline for applications fast approaching, it remains to be seen who will heed Moisescu's advice. The upcoming season promises a completely fresh dynamic with its new jury line-up and a brand new cast of hopefuls ready to chase their dreams on one of Romania's biggest stages.
